This week seems to be the week of the brain. With the California Society of Addiction Medicine (CSAM) being this weekend, I am looking forward to learning more and more about the brain and addictions. Neurofeedback is a topic to consider this week and I will pouring through research. I will also be meeting with several physicians and neurologists who specialize in the treatment of addictive disease this week. Having a love of learning along with a strong sense of personal intrigue in the field of addictions, all of this is highly exciting to me. All of psychotherapy is about treating the brain in the end. Whether we are doing talk therapy, using pharmacological interventions, or retraining the brain with neurofeedback, the goal is to bring the brain to a healthy place of functioning. Imagine how much easier life would be if we were at optimal functioning levels most of the times? Coping with stress would be easier. Passing on a piece of chocolate cake would be a piece of cake 😉 I know, I know. It was bad, but I am known for it.
