Our Recovery Modalities in Practice
Modalities are the technical term for treatment methods. At True North Recovery Services, we rely on two main modalities that have proven priceless in our work: Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) and Experiential Therapy. Both of these approaches are designed to help patients manage their overwhelming emotions throughout the recovery process.
Dialectical Behavioral Therapy is one of the most common therapeutic techniques in use today, focusing on strengthening patients’ ability to handle stressful situations. This teaches them how to cope, and how to stop losing control or relying on destructive behaviors as a way out.
Experiential Therapy relies on being active, and using forms of expression like art, role-play, acting, guided imagery, and other recreational activities. Staying active, and connecting that activity with past traumatic experiences, makes exploring those experiences less painful. At True North Recovery Services, we carefully construct individually-customized approaches to help patients internalize and rely on the skills they learn during recovery.
Our Evidence-Based Approach to Addiction Recovery
